This one had a few layers to it. We started with a full teardown of an attached garage - framing, roof, siding, all of it. Once the structure was down, the real work began underneath.

The old concrete floor had to come out completely. Those slabs don't just lift out cleanly - we broke them apart and hauled every piece off site. From there, we tackled the block walls and then dug out the existing footing. That's the step a lot of people don't think about, but it matters more than anything else. If the new footing doesn't have a clean, properly excavated base to sit on, you're setting up the next builder for problems before they even pour.

We run a Bobcat track loader and a compact excavator on jobs like this. The excavator gives us precision when we're digging around an existing structure - we're not just ripping through the site, we're being deliberate about what stays and what goes. Working right up against a home means there's no room for sloppy equipment work.

What we handed off when we were done was a clean, prepped site - block gone, floor gone, footing gone, and the ground ready for a fresh pour. That's exactly what the next phase of construction needs. No shortcuts, no debris left behind to deal with later.

Demo work gets rushed way too often. People want the old stuff gone fast, and they don't always think about what comes next. We do. Every cut, every dig, every haul-off is done with the rebuild in mind. That's the difference between demo that causes headaches down the road and demo that actually sets the job up for success.
